What we cannot see in our Creator, we can see in His creation. It is with the gift of the flower—a powerful representation of the love of God—that we can bridge not only home and garden but also the eternal and the everyday.
In this fourth installment of Theology of Home, Emily Malloy explores the vibrancy and life of the garden. With her expertise as a florist, Malloy brings a wealth of practical ideas for incorporating flowers into our homes as we march through both nature’s seasons and the Church’s liturgical calendar. Yet this edition, like the rest of the series, does not stop at the material level. Remembering mankind’s beginnings in the Garden of Eden, Arranging the Seasons highlights our intrinsic need for beauty within the human heart.
Explored within this edition of Theology of Home are the deeper questions of life, family, love, and God that animate our efforts to cultivate the earth. In simple and small ways, it will inspire us to layer our lives and homes with the intangibles that turn the stuff of matter into a song.

Beautiful
I fell in love with this book instantly! It took me awhile to get through because almost every page I was stopping and sharing something beautiful with my podcast Co-hosts. Having our own little farm, this book resonated with me as she talked about harvesting from your garden and going on nature walks with your children. My favorite quote is still, "When we bring nature inside, however, we create a new Eden within our homes where our Lord can reside." This imagery of creating Eden in our homes and the idea of using nature to help us embody our domestic church throughout our home was very powerful. I also love how she compares the seasons themselves to the liturgical seasons that occur in their midst. The preparation of our souls in Lent as we prepare our gardens and then the coming of Spring. This is done in a deep yet simple way which is beautifully rooted in theology. If you are one that loves to ponder upon how God works seamlessly in nature and the Church and how the two complement and intertwine with each other, this book is for you.

A Must-Have for Aspiring Homemakers!
Firstly, I must state the physical book itself is beautiful! It's printed on high quality paper, and definitely deserves a featured spot on the coffee table. Author Emily Malloy offers practical insights for bringing the beauty of nature into our homes (focusing on flowers!) while also exploring profound questions of life, family, and our connection with God. It's packed full of stunning imagery and quotes from prominent figures like Louisa May Alcott, Vincent Van Gogh, and many more. It celebrates the changing seasons and the unique beauty they bring, inspiring a passion for homemaking in all its forms- which is an area I'm personally trying to grow in right now. I love the focus on nature in this volume because that is such an interest of mine. She provides new topics and tools for each month of the year. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned homemaker, this book serves as a guide to make the house you live in a beautiful domestic church decked with stunning, unique, décor. "Theology of Home IV" is a reminder that our homes can be sacred spaces where the divine meets our everyday lives. I love the idea that homemaking well, and joyfully, is a way of saying "yes" to God in the vocation I'm in. It's a must-read for nature-lovers and aspiring homemakers alike. Highly recommended!
