“I went from an indifferent, apathetic, Sunday-Mass-attending Catholic Christian to an on-fire Catholic Christian in a few short years. What reignited my faith? The many encounters I had with the occult and diabolical.”
So says renowned Catholic apologist and retired veteran of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Jesse Romero. Now, for the first time in print, Romero reveals the harrowing details of his experiences with the demonic while working for the LASD. Discover the true stories of spiritual warfare being waged in the streets and alleys of L.A., including:
- Romero’s encounters with Richard Ramirez, the infamous “Night Stalker”
- How the Rosary drove out a demon that had taken hold of a young man
- What happened when inmates involved in the occult would try to say “Jesus is Lord”
- How a young man who had committed suicide returned to beg his parents for prayers to release him from the pains of Purgatory
- And much more.
The Devil in the City of Angels is much more than a catalog of strange and terrifying events. It exposes Satan as the Father of Lies so we can see how he works and how to defeat him. Drawing on his own experiences as well as the most authoritative sources, Romero offers the reader numerous cautionary tales. Ultimately, he also conveys that hope that is only found in Jesus Christ and His Church.

Devil in the City of Angels
One of the most interesting books I’ve read. Not finishing it yet, I told a non-practicing Catholic friend some of the things I read in this book and at once, borrowed it from me as she seemed so interested. I hope it gives her an awareness of the dangers of straying away from God.

The Devil in the City of Angels
If you read Angels and Devils, this is a great follow up read. I gave it 4 stars instead of five only because my understanding is that for lay people to deal in exorcisms is very dangerous business. I think there should have been more warnings on this and more comments from Fr. Rippinger. Other than that, it is a good read and I would recommend the book.

Excellent!!
Couldnt put it down. Jesse Romero is a former LA Sheriffs Deputy and a Catholic evangelist. The accounts are first person stories that are hair raising but a wake up call. Evil does exist. Satan is real. Big surprise.......!!?? Wow! Dont mess around with the occult

Riveting book
This fantastic book will keep you glued to your seat (I read it in the span of a few hours) with Jesse;s eye-opening stories of diabolical encounters. I find such stories edifying because they are real-world empirical confirmation of the truth of the faith. You won;t want to miss this book.

Quick, riveting, and provides action steps
A good and quick read on how spiritual warfare is present in our day. In addition to the author;s personal experiences, there are action steps and prayers you can practice. This book is a relatively quick read yet engaging which is a good thing if don;t have a lot of free time to read but want to use your time reading books that can be finished in reasonable time.
