We know that through Baptism we become children of God and heirs of heaven—that we receive sanctifying grace and have a share in the life of God himself. But what does that mean in our daily lives? The Glories of Divine Grace describes the immense gift of grace won for us by the Savior and the inconceivable power this grace gives to our lives.

Among the mysteries of faith, the doctrine of grace occupies a preeminent place. It’s at the heart of Christianity because grace is how God comes to us and how we embrace God. To take this gift of divine grace for granted or to let it go to waste is an offense against God. Fr. Matthias J. Scheeben’s insights into the glories of divine grace reveal a man who knew this gift intimately and cherished it wisely. Don’t let this astonishing gift go unnoticed or unused or misunderstood. Read this masterful and intriguing book on grace.

    The Glories of Divine Grace

Posted by Pete Heugel on Dec 3rd 2024

I have been wanting to get this for a while now, so when TAN had it for 50% off, I jumped on it. This book comes from the great Emmaus Road Publishing group, which was founded by Scott Hahn. Hence the forward from him. Like all of their books, it is of extremely high quality with very excellent binding with nice thick paper and crisp dark printing. There is zero bleed through. I even love the font. This book should last forever. Now to the actual content. I believe this is one that everyone should read. Scheeben is a sometimes overlooked theologian, but one that should be taken notice of. Two notable people that hold him in very high esteem were Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI. His insight and thought process is truly amazing and inspirational. He also writes so you do not have to have a doctorate to understand the meaning of what he is saying. And what he is saying in this particular work is extremely important and a message that everyone should know. Scheeben also wrote a series on Catholic Dogmatics which is available through the St. Paul Center. To go through its entirety would take some time. But this is an excellent work done by a highly intelligent Catholic Priest and Theologian that should be read by all.

    Masterpiece

This book is a masterpiece on grace, the sine qua non of the spiritual life. Certainly buy the print edition. I was going to buy the audiobook as well, but the preview reveals that Tan inexplicably decided to hire a woman to do the reading of this book. Therefore I’ll stick with the print edition.
