St. Gemma Galgani (1878-1903) was a mystic, stigmatist, visionary, ecstatic, victim soul, discerner of spirits, seer of hidden things, prophetess, spouse of Christ, zealot for souls and devotee of the Poor Souls in Purgatory. She died at only 25. Her mother was also saintly, and it is beautiful to see how she helped cultivate this lily of purity. See how Gemma made great sacrifices painful to human nature from her tenderest years. Inspiring and edifying! Impr. 382 pgs, PB

The Life of St Gemma Galgani by Ven. Fr.Germanus

Posted by Chris Kozik on Jun 10th 2025

[not sure if my review was cut off, so…] Written by her spiritual director (not her confessor) who was closely knowledgeable of Gemma's life, exterior and interior. >WORTH reading< because it gives a real glimpse into the life of one of the rarest of saints honored by the Church: for, beyond all the details of her holy life, Jesus desired her >to be a victim soul who willingly and lovingly would »console Him« by her sufferings, offered as reparation to God and for saving sinners. Ven.Pope Pius XII's decree of her canonization [not in book] »Sanctitudinis Culmen« translates as "the high point of sanctity"–lofty praise when one thinks of great saints of the past. And therein he also makes statements which almost defy belief if fully taken in; and, yet, they Must be accepted as literally true, for they are solemnly declared in the>Name of the Church AND In The Name Of GOD<. Gemma was a remarkable young woman and is a beyond extraordinary saint. She deserves to be much better known. And this bio, while written in an older style, gives a real glimpse into Gemma's life and heart, her profound, generous and sacrificial love for Our Lord, and her love of neighbor, especially when interceding for souls. She had personal conversations with her guardian angel, saints and Our Lady, whom she dearly loved. One prayer: "Mother never allow me to lose holy purity. Place me under your mantle, guard this treasure for me, and I shall become more pleasing to Jesus."[p.167] Daily, with hands under her knees as she'd learned from her mother, she prayed three Hail Marys in honor of Mary's Immaculate Conception, asking for the grace to always remain pure. BTW, God let her endure great temptations; so, she's also a strong intercessor for all those who are tempted. Gemma's one of my favorite saints; more so, she's one of less than a handful for whom my esteem has truly grown the more I learn about her. (See the online website devoted to her life– »stgemmagalgani.com«.)?St Gemma, pray for us.

The Life of St Gemma Galgani by Ven. Fr. Germanus

Posted by Chris Kozik on Jun 10th 2025

All saints have charisms and mission(s) that God has chosen them for. HOWEVER, perhaps the rarest are those saints who are desired by Our Lord to be victim souls and, specially, >to console Him< while offering reparation to God and powerful intercession for sinners. St.Gemma was ALL that and more! Doubts? [Separate from book:] Reflect that her Decree of Canonization »Sanctitudinis Culmin« translates as "the high point of sanctity"–lofty praise indeed when one thinks of great saints of the past. And Ven.Pope Pius XII in that document solemnly declared >in the Name Of The Church AND Of GOD< things about Gemma which are almost beyond belief if fully taken in, and yet which our Faith must be accepted as >literally< true.

St Gemma Galgani is an incredibly moving and powerful story of a beautiful soul's profound love of Jesus. The extraordinary and exceptinal graces bestowed upon her by Our Lord, will surely stay with the reader. Venerable Fr. Germanus, provides a thorough recollection of her life through his own experience as well as the accounts of others who were known to her. His spiritual reflections are notable and heartfelt. What a beaufiful saint! God bless you, St Gemma!

It’s wonderful to see God’s graces at work in his Saints, and to read the words of the saint, or another holy soul. St Gemma’s angelic purity is reflected in her face. St Gemma, pray for us.

Although I've read many saint's biographies, this book remains my favorite. Written by her spiritual director and including Gemma's own words, it provides a great insight into her life. The stories of Gemma's guardian angel will remain with you long afterwards and change your relationship with your own guardian angel. Highly recommended!

I've read many biographies of saints over the years, but this one remains my favorite. St. Gemma's life will inspire you to follow God more closely. She lived a life of great humility. Her words will remain with you long after you've read this book. I think of her whenever I pray to my guardian angel as St Gemma had a very special relationship with hers. Read to find out all about it!

This book is very good. Makes me wish I could start over - but the life of most saints makes me feel that way. Saint Gemma is on my list of favorite saints.
