While he spent some of his teenage and young adult years as a lawyer, he eventually recognized the dangerous allure of the world and retreated from it to study for the priesthood.
This Doctor of the Church went on to recognize the need for the Gospel in rural areas of Italy, traveling for 26 years to preach missions. In 1732, he founded the Redemptorist congregation to carry on this work. His writings continue to strengthen the weak and correct the wayward soul, calling all to conversion and life in the fullness of God’s grace.
