Rediscover the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Mass of the Ages. This richly- illustrated introduction to the Latin Mass for readers young and old provides a thorough sampling of Latin text from the missal with English translations. It also provides a look behind the veil of what we can see with our eyes, depicting the meeting of Heaven and earth at each Mass, as Pope Saint Gregory the Great stated: “The heavens open and multitudes of angels come to assist in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.” The beauty of the language, the reverent movements, and the salvation made possible through Jesus’s penitential offering to the Father are all depicted lovingly within these pages.

For those unfamiliar but curious about the Latin Mass, this book can ease them into experiencing it without feeling overwhelmed. Even if you’ve only attended the Novus Ordo, the knowledge of the Latin Mass you’ll get from this book will deepen your understanding of the Novus Ordo. For children who can sit still but need help to be fully involved at the Mass, Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus will guide them along visually and verbally.

    Very happy with these!

Very happy with this purchase. My daughters are having a much easier time following the mass (ages 10 and 8) only thing that would’ve made it better would be adding in some Sundays (the gospels, epistle, etc)

    It’s really an abbreviated missal…

Posted by Rachael on Jul 26th 2023

I bought this book thinking it was just going to be beautiful pictures that some of the younger ones could look at during mass, but it’s actually got a lot of the mass prayers in it, both Latin and English. Like full length prayers, not simplified versions of them. Bc it’s more like an actual missal, I gave it to my 9yr old who hates using missals or any sort of books during mass. I’ve tried all sorts of children’s missals, and mass instruction type books (i.e. “know your mass”), he’s a strong enough reader that he could even use an adult missal, but he won’t use any of them. Now, He doesn’t hold this one all the way through or anything, but when he recognizes a parts of the mass he grabs the book to look for it. He really likes the Latin in it too. I do kinda wish there were more prayers in it, but I would definitely recommend it for any older child that doesn’t like a standard missal. The pictures in it are much more engaging than what is usually found in a child’s missal.

    Perfect for young children!

We bought this for our almost three year old, who’s not interested in board books anymore but wants a missal with pictures for mass. This is perfect! It has beautiful illustrations that are clear and simple for little ones to follow along with. I love the translations so I can read it to him later and he can understand more of what’s happening in the mass - thank you!

    Sanctus Sanctus Sanctus

This book is beautiful! I love the way the book is organized. The prayers first in Latin and then in English are arranged in such a beautiful way. I could immediately picture Mass in my head and saying each of these prayers. To have the Latin was beautiful and offered such a rich experience just from reading the pages. As a Catholic who wants to experience the Latin Mass, this book is a beautiful example of the Mass and a wonderful resource. The illustrations in the book are outstanding. I found myself staring at them trying to take on each detail. While this book is geared toward children, I believe it can be a great resource for anyone wanting to learn the Latin version of the common prayers we use at Mass. I loved everything about this book and am so grateful to TAN Books for the copy. All views are my honest opinion.

Completely gorgeous illustrations! The side by side combo of Latin and English makes for a wonderful resource for young and old Catholics alike- helping us all to better understand the universal language of the Church and the mysteries of the Mass. I love the rich details in the illustrations, borders, and backgrounds!

    Stunning

The artwork is spectacular, I really felt it transport me into the spiritual view and while I was standing my living room previewing it i felt like I was watching the Mass from the sidelines. It explains whats happening visually so even for my small children that can't read the words they may still follow along and unserstand the great Mystery The Latin is perfect, a simple but complete translation- as someone who has grown up and practically memorized the Mass prayers. I love that each illustration mimics the altar cards with the ornate frame art.
