Listen to Fr. Edward Looney's The Mystical City of God in a Year Podcast while reading the books.

Dictated to Venerable Mary of Agreda (1602–1665) by the Blessed Mother herself, The Mystical City of God is an amazing collection of four books of revelations about the life of Our Lady and the divine plan for creation and the salvation of souls that has been enthralling readers for centuries.

Sr. Mary of Agreda was a Franciscan abbess and spiritual writer from Spain.  She was a noted mystic and prolific writer who authored many books. Reports of her bilocation between Spain and the US (New Mexico and Texas) have been retold for centuries and inspired generations of Franciscan missionaries in the New World.

This book is composed of four volumes that summarize the life of Our Lady: the Conception, Incarnation, Transfixion, and Coronation. This magnificent narrative takes the reader through the various stages of the life of the Blessed Mother while revealing all sorts of interesting facts about salvation history.

This set includes beautiful hardcover binding with elegant gold-foil details. The interior is reproduced at 100% of the size in the original book and is printed from the original negatives for complete fidelity.

    Best book after the bible

Posted by Jensen on Feb 6th 2025

I bought this series in 1978. It is an old book, old bind, but the content is awesome. NO catholics, even priests, could understand who Mary is until you read these books. It is mystical and it shows how God saved mankind through Mary after Adam and Eve sinned. Without her there is no salvation. She is Divine, out of the touch of sin, and only through her immaculate conception was she able to bear and bring Jesus to us. She is the Co Redemptrix in every sense. I read this and the abridged version again and again. once you read these books, you will have a clear understanding who Mary is and your respect for her will be different, like Heaven and Earth. As an electronics engineer is used logic to test it again and again and only in these book and the Life of the Virgin Mary (Anne Cartherimne Emmerich) one can have a complete picture who Mary is. Highly recommended for logical Non Catholics too.

I can humbly say that I have gained a vast amount of extremely beneficial knowledge, not to mention holy inspiration in prayerfully reading through this most incredible writing. In recommending this extraordinary work to the nth degree I could hardly do better than to provide the following link to a most truthful, good, and beautiful review of it: I can humbly say that I have gained a vast amount of extremely beneficial knowledge, not to mention holy inspiration, in prayerfully reading through this most incredible writing. Best series of books I’ve ever read!

Posted by Zac on Feb 19th 2024

Listened to the Mystical City of God podcast first time around without the books. Enjoyed it but definitely felt like I wasn’t as engaged so decided to purchase the set while listening to the podcast for the 2nd time. Much more enjoyable experience and look forward to finishing all 4 books with Father Looney narrating.

    The Mystical City of God

This should be required reading, only after the Bible, for every Catholic. A beautiful collection that not only adorns any bookshelf but can be read yearly. It reads better than any classic novel, every page is captivating and full of richness that makes the Bible even more vibrant. I look forward to reading a chapter everyday !

Have read these while on winter vacation in AL at St. Thomas by the Sea Church library and longed to have my own copies, which your sale made available. However, was somewhat disappointed in the smaller size.

I haven’t started to read yet, but if I’m not mistaken, when I bought them I thought someone was going to do a podcast of reading these volumes. Please let me know if this is true. Thankyou
