Children should not just read about history; they should live it. In The Story of Civilization (35 lessons), the ancient stories that have shaped humanity come alive like never before.
Volume I: The Ancient World, begins the journey, covering the time periods from the dawn of history and the early nomads, to the conversion of Emperor Constantine. Children will learn what life was like in the ancient civilizations of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia, Greece, Rome, and more, as well as learn the Old Testament stories of the Israelites and the coming of Christ.

Excellent Series
The book is excellent. I highly recommend the book for age 10+ and above. It does a great job of laying the historic foundation leading up to God's revelation to mankind and Jesus;s birth, death and resurrection, and making it understandable to youth. The video series with quizzes at the end are a fun way to engage children. (I wish there were not grammatical speaking errors, but this is minor criticism.) The videos do a nice job of tying together the chapter learning and reinforcing the reading of the book. I highly recommend getting both the book and the video series together. We did not use the workbook and instead made our own comprehension questions, but I think the workbook would be helpful, as well.

Outstanding Resource
I was delighted when I read that TAN books sells òThe Story of Civilisation for our now homeschooling family; the books are beautifully presented, and the videos are informative yet concise enough for my children. I have recommended these books to other Catholic families as the content is excellent. The videos are visually highly effective and the quizzes are the highlight of my childrens learning. I am determined to buy the test book as it will surely aid memorisation of facts. I have not invested in the workbook as my children are in their early teens; however, I encourage them to summarise the book, and watch the videos whilst creating mind maps to document learning. Overall, a quality resource for Catholic families. We are now using the TAN Academy lectures for our 14 year old who is studying Shakespeare. So grateful for these resources! Natacha
